Title:
The Effectiveness of Incredible Years on Preschoolers with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD): A Systematic Literature Review
Abstract:
The primary purpose of this research was to conduct a systematic literature review to evaluate already published research on the effectiveness of Incredible Years (IY) on preschoolers with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). To collect this research evidence, the Google Scholar electronic database through the Cline Library website was used. This database was searched with best-practice standards (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analysis protocols: PRISMA-P; Shamseer et al., 2015) for randomized trials in which Incredible Years was compared to a control. A total of seven randomized trials that met predetermined inclusion criteria, such as research design, were selected for this review. The results from this systematic literature review generally demonstrated that Incredible Years intervention was more effective than the controls of each study, and improved child behavior. This review supports the claim that Incredible Years is an effective treatment for preschoolers with ADHD. Limitations within the RCTs are discussed.
Key terms: Systematic literature review, Incredible Years, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
