Title:
Nonverbal Disabilities: Promoting Awareness and Solutions
Abstract:
Nonverbal Disabilities range on a wide spectrum of diagnoses and abilities. Modern communities have grown in a positive direction towards more accepting and accommodating ways of life for those with a nonverbal disability. Society has found ways to develop and implement solutions that seek improvement in the life of people with verbal impairments. This study explored how more public knowledge and a deeper understanding of Nonverbal Disorders is necessary for greater social acceptance of disorders in society. The analysis argues in favor of the benefits of new technology, such as AAC devices, as a way to expand communicative opportunities to those who are unable to speak on their own. Based on different successful data studies performed globally, this paper will support therapeutic options for people with Nonverbal Disorders, including in school settings. It is found that modern technology and therapeutic opportunities are often not easily accessible to those with Nonverbal Disabilities who are in need of it. Together, these findings show the significance in bringing knowledge and awareness to people who are otherwise unaware of Nonverbal Disorders and encouraging changes to be made for equality and a more accepting society.
