RISANA: Restorative Initiative for Sexual Assault in Northern Arizona

Abstract:
There is a lack of restorative justice programs when it comes to sexual assault and rape on college campuses. Thus, with the aid of my CCJ capstone group, I have come up with a hypothetical program by the name of RISANA (Restorative Initiative for Sexual Assault in Northern Arizona). This program will help sexual assault victims to move forward through the implementation of healing circles, facilitated by some well-trained counselors. This program will also provide a variety of products to prevent victims from being assaulted in the future, and is being funded by RAINN (Rape, Abuse, and Incest National Network). This program has the overall goal to make a direct impact on the number of sexual assaults on the Northern Arizona University campus by aiding victims and providing them with the tools they need to possibly prevent further victimization.
