Title:
The School Shooter Phenomenon
Abstract:
The "school shooter phenomenon" is a complex issue with no single cause, involving factors like easy access to firearms, mental health issues, family dysfunction, and social influences, and has led to significant discussions on gun control and public safety. This research focuses on the various possible issues regarding the increasing trend of school shootings in modern United States' history through the lenses of some of the country's most notorious school shootings. Case study evaluations are performed to further put into perspective the real-life implications of these problems as well as what we as a society can do to continue fighting this growing sequence of events. Adding to this approach, the psychological factors that play a part in developmental behavior that leads up to these events will be discussed in its broad notion, as well as how outside factors changes and morphs the narrative on topics such as mental health evaluations, gun access/carrying, and societal pressure and expectations. As a country and for the future of children in America, it's important to understand the real issues, and that those issues extend far and many. Research has and continues to show the wide range of factors and that narrow-mindedness about one specific cause will continue to perpetuate these events for years to come.
