Title:
Consequences of State Governance on Reproductive Healthcare: A Social Work Perspective
Abstract:
This study intends to gain an understanding of the differences between how reproductive healthcare operates when managed by the federal government vs. by state governments. Specifically, the study will look at how safety and equity of access have been affected when left at state level of control. The study will explore how women’s general pregnancy safety is affected as well as how pregnant persons of color or who are low-income are particularly impacted. This issue is of concern to the field of social work due to social workers’ ethical responsibility to uphold human rights, including the right to effective reproductive healthcare.
