Title:
Gas Sensor Reactor System by Delta P
Abstract:
The current vacuum pressure sensor utilized by researchers at the Interactive Data Visualization Lab needs to be updated with some modern features. The pressure sensors on the current system are starting to break from age. There is no communication or data logging from the embedded system to the laboratory’s wireless network. Finally, the current array of heating controls is lacking communication with the pressure sensor system. Because of this, our capstone team Delta P is currently developing a new pressure sensor system that will be a suitable replacement with more advanced features. The overall goal of our design is to create an entirely new pressure sensor and heating unit with modular ports, making peripheral devices easy to replace in case one starts to fail and to have a microcontroller log data from the system. By adding a microcontroller to the pressure sensor system, the data being read from the sensors can be sent wirelessly and the person using the system can easily see the values of the pressure, temperature, and time of read. The pressure sensors also provide more accuracy and precision compared to the older system. Due to the use of a microcontroller, the system can easily be modified and additional features could be added in the future.
