Title:
Conservation of Energy Through Wearable Devices
Abstract:
Climate change calls for the conservation and effective utilization of energy, buildings are considered to be one of the greatest energy consumers, energy that is primarily used by us humans for our comfort. Therefore our project aims at monitoring 5 variables in a room that would measure the current indoor environmental conditions of a room to the user. These variables consist of a user-dependent variable, such as the activity level of the user in the room measured by measuring the BPM of the user, and indoor room dependent variables such as temperature, humidity, light and carbon dioxide. Upon accurately and precisely measuring the condition of the room through the monitoring of these variables. Our project’s two main modules which are the room comfort calculating module and the room energy efficiency estimating module, independently calculate the current comfort value of the room and the current energy efficiency value of the room respectively. The results of these two modules are used to finally calculate the joint comfort and energy efficiency index value of the room, which will conclude to the user if the room is energy efficient based on the comfort of the room. Additionally, if the room is either uncomfortable or not energy efficient, the project’s system would give the user recommendations, to take certain actions to make the room either comfortable or energy efficient relative to the current environmental conditions.
