Title:
Medical Impact of Mindset
Abstract:
Through our literature-based research, we determined that mindset has a significant impact on many aspects of a person’s well-being. For instance, there are developmental attributes of the psychological mind inhibited by a lack of self-awareness. Understanding the effects of each mindset allows individuals to adapt an ideal state of mind that is both beneficial and productive. A person may control his/her mindset with emotional regulation and awareness. Emotional intelligence is the ability to understand emotions and respond in a healthy manner. Healthcare providers can use emotional intelligence to benefit the course of health and treatments in patients. Additionally, optimistic and pessimistic mindsets affect individuals' receptivity to the placebo effect and other psychological events. The placebo effect is a phenomenon in which people experience a reduction in symptoms despite receiving an “inactive” treatment or substance. By utilizing optimism in the placebo effect, an individual can achieve a desired state of mind that, when coupled with emotional regulation, has significant impacts on the effectiveness of medical treatments. Pessimism, however, negatively alters patient outcomes and can cause severe reactions like hallucinations. Patients experiencing hallucinations may alter the contents of their hallucinations by a lack of cognitive understanding of their mental state. The necessary solution is an increased emotional intelligence. Attaining a thorough comprehension of these concepts allows individuals to make the necessary adaptations in order to enhance positive mental health, leading to good physical health.
