Title:
Baby Talk: An Effective Tool for Child Language Development
Abstract:
Infant directed speech is different from adult-directed speech through various characteristics including vowel modification, minimal vocabulary, shorter length of utterances, and larger pitch range (Golinkoff, 2015). Baby talk, otherwise known as infant directed speech, is an essential component of early childhood language development. Studies have shown that implementing baby talk early on is effective in promoting early childhood language development. This research aims to answer the question: How can baby talk serve as an effective tool to make a positive impact on early child language development? Baby talk serves Speech Language Pathologists as an effective tool by laying a foundation for child language development.
